Role Description We are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Director – Software Engineering to lead software engineering teams, oversee development initiatives, and ensure the delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will combine strong software engineering expertise with proven team leadership, project execution, and technical decision-making capabilities. This role requires the ability to guide engineering teams, establish development standards, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and align technical execution with business objectives. Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership and Team Management Lead, mentor, and develop software engineers and technical team leads, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Manage team performance, workload distribution, resource planning, and professional development.Establish clear engineering goals, delivery expectations, and accountability across the development team.Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support career development and succession planning. Software Development and Technical Excellence Oversee the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.Guide technical decisions related to application architecture, system design, frameworks, databases, APIs, and integrations.Ensure adherence to coding standards, design principles, secure development practices, and software engineering best practices.Review technical designs and code quality, ensuring solutions are maintainable, efficient, scalable, and reliable.Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and recurring production issues. Project Delivery and Execution Translate business requirements into technical plans, development roadmaps, and achievable delivery milestones.Coordinate with Product Management, Quality Assurance, DevOps, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.Monitor project progress, manage dependencies, mitigate delivery risks, and communicate status to relevant stakeholders.Establish effective Agile/Scrum practices, sprint planning, estimation, and release management processes.Ensure appropriate testing, documentation, deployment readiness, and post-release support. Process Improvement and Innovation Drive improvements in engineering productivity, automation, development workflows, and software quality.Promote CI/CD, automated testing, version control, and modern deployment practices.Evaluate relevant technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve development efficiency and system performance.Encourage knowledge sharing, technical documentation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team. Stakeholder Management Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.Communicate technical risks, delivery progress, resource requirements, and dependencies clearly to management.Support strategic technology initiatives and contribute to engineering roadmaps and long-term product scalability. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized university.Graduates of NUST and FAST-NUCES will be preferred; candidates from other recognized universities with relevant experience and demonstrated capabilities will also be considered. Required Experience 8–10 years of overall experience in software development and engineering.At least 3–4 years of experience in team leadership, technical leadership, engineering management, or a comparable leadership role.Demonstrated experience leading software development teams and delivering complex software projects.Experience in technical planning, system design, code quality management, and production support.Proven ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities. Technical Skills Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and system design.Experience with modern backend and frontend technologies, programming languages, frameworks, and APIs.Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, application integrations, and distributed systems.Understanding of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, automated testing, and DevOps practices.Knowledge of application security, performance optimization, scalability, and reliability.Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, version control, and software project management tools.Candidates are expected to demonstrate depth in relevant technologies rather than expertise in every listed tool or framework.
